St Cross Symondians' former Hampshire cricketer Adam Rouse continues to be the wicketkeeper with the most dismissals in the County Championship.
The five catches he took for Kent during Glamorgan’s first innings at Cardiff this week sent his season’s dismissal count rocketing to 34 – no mean feat in only seven appearances !
Ironically, Rouse, 23, answered an 11th hour call to play for Kent at the SWALEC Stadium.
He was about to go into bat for St Cross Symondians in Saturday’s Southern Premier League match with Burridge when he fielded a telephone call from Kent manager Jimmy Adams to report to Cardiff as Sam Billings was nursing a finger injury.
Rouse, who signed a two-year deal with Kent at the start of the season, hit a quick fire 49 before hot-footing it to Cardiff. But while he was speeding west (circa 69 mph) St Cross lost the game.
Zimbabwean-born Rouse spent his formative years in Hampshire, playing for the county’s junior age group sides and, after being taken on the Ageas Bowl staff, the academy and second teams.
Ironically, Rouse made his First Class debut for Hampshire in July 2013 ... against Kent at Canterbury.
