St Cross Symondians may swap one Hampshire player for another for tomorrow’s ECB British Gas Southern League joust with Premier Division champions Havant at the Green Jackets Ground, 1pm – the last of the initial batch of 50-over ‘white ball’ matches.
Skipper Tom Foyle had hoped to include former England Under-19 captain Joe Weatherley against the champions, but he is playing for Kent in the currently County Championship match against Sussex at Tunbridge Wells, making 33.
However, Jimmy Adams, left out of Hampshire's starting line-up against Somerset at Taunton, may be drafted in.
Havant expect to be at full strength, with Rob Gibson returning to open the batting.
Last year’s winners lost their opening game to Alton, but have since beaten Bashley (Rydal) and New Milton.
Vice-captain Andy Gorvin has no doubts Havant are back on track but is predicting a competitive summer of Premier Division cricket.
"The introduction of white ball cricket has brought new players in," said Gorvin. "All the teams look quite balanced and there won’t be many easy games. We were disappointed to lose our first game but have bounced back well.
"The best we have played was in our win at Bashley and then against New Milton we bowled well to win the game. "We have got a very strong squad with an excellent balance of youth and experience. The likes of Ben Walker, Stuart Rankly, Pete Hopson and Richard Hindley have been there and done it all. At the same time we have some outstanding youngsters like Josh McCoy and Brad Taylor.
"St Cross Symondians have made a good start to the season so we will go there expecting another very tough game."
