Young South African all-rounder Michael Booth is set to make his ECB Southern Premier League debut for St Cross Symondians’ against Hook & Newnham Basics at the KGV tomorrow, 11.30.
A right-arm quick bowler and hard-hitting batsman, Booth, 20, is a product of Hilton College, where he was coached by Dale Benkenstein.
He played in the Dolphins side which won the 2019 CSA Cubs Franchise tournament, but was surprisingly omitted from South Africa’s U19 squad for the last U19 World Cup.
Booth [left] is in his fresher year at Durham University and took wickets in an early pre-season warm-up match against Worcestershire at Kidderminster.
He replaces Felix Organ, who is playing for Hampshire against Somerset at the Ageas Bowl.
A knee injury rules left-hand opener Ben Thane out of the Hook & Newnham Basics line up, so Danniel Moore gets the call up as does Shane Brewer, reward for last week’s match winning five-wicket haul against Gosport Borough.  Liam Shore drops down.
Hook & Newnham Basics: J Buckingham, Lockwood, H Robson, Thomson, M Buckingham, Love, Murrell, Watts, Divecha, Moore, Brewer.
St Cross Symondians: Mike Haworth, Tom Foyle, Came, Taylor, Ellis, Harry Foyle, Bransgrove, Booth, Beetham, Matt Haworth, Woolvine.
