Earlier, a remarkable collapse saw Somerset nosedive from 56-1 to 89 all out, with left-armers Kevin Poulter (5-24) and Nick Gargaro (4-8) sending nine wickets crashing for 32 runs.
Hampshire wobbled losing four wickets, but were guided home by skipper Chris Wheeler 34 not out.
