Sam Plater’s unbeaten 121 eased Rowledge away from an uncertain 113-5 and set up a match winning 221-5 against Southern Premier League Division 1 strugglers Calmore Sports at Loperwood Park.
The Charterhouse sports teacher, pictured being clapped off the field by the Calmore fielders, struck a six and 13 fours in his maiden Rowledge century.
Plater had to keep his wits about him when Rowledge slipped from a watchful 79-1 to 113-5, but he found a reliable partner in teenager Ollie Baker, whose unbeaten 44 helped put the visitors in a strong tea-time position.
Mark Lavelle returned an immaculate 2-18 off ten overs for Calmore, whose top order fell apart against Joe Randall (4-22), who reduced the hosts to 16-4.
Randall was supported by miserly spells from David Lloyd and Will Ryman, who stifled any prospect of Calmore featuring in a run chase. James Manning and Mike West staged a brief rally, but wickets fell at regular intervals to Steven Martin (2-26) and Ollie Baker (2-24) before slimline Ricky Yates (2-0) finally brought the innings to an end with two wickets in six balls to leave Rowledge 123-run winners.
Calmore now face a critical relegation showdown with winless Ventnor at Steephill on Saturday (1230) – the islanders suffering an 11th successive defeat at eight-wicket winners Old Tauntonians & Romsey.
Ventnor’s demise was very much down to Hampshire left-armer Chris Wood, whose 6-17 return included the visitors’ top three before Rob Snell (25) and Neil Westhorpe (61) began a fightback.
They progressed the score to 95-3 before the last seven wickets fell for 53 runs, Jody Brown and Rob Newman pocketing two each.
Snell struck an early blow for Ventnor, but an unbeaten half-century by Joe Vaughan (52) and support knocks from Wood (35) and Harry Tulk (38) eased OTR to a comfortable win.
Ventnor won't appreciate the irony but it was probably Chris Wood's last game for OTs before the start of the T20 Blast.
