Tom Willoughby fires 94 in Bournemouth farewell [James Robinson pictures]
Bournemouth’s Tasmanian left-hand opener Tom Willoughby (pictured) finished third in the ECB Southern Premier League batting charts, doubling his eventual 707 runs aggregate in the last five weeks of the season.
He narrowly missed out on a third SPL century being caught for 94, six runs shy of his hundred, but his innings set up a thumping 172-run win for Bournemouth, who totalled 311-5 before bowling Lymington out for 139.
The 20-years old from Hobart made a staggering 398 runs in his last five knocks, including centuries against Totton & Eling and Burridge, and almost a third when Lymington came to Chapel Gate.
Only South Wilts pair Tom Morton (1213) and Jack Stearman (836) scored more Premier Division runs this summer.
“Tom will be first to admit that during the first half of the season he didn’t get the big score he wanted but was always getting 20-30,” explained Bournemouth skipper Chris Park.
“Last month he showed what he was capable of. He’s a very talented player and a pleasure to captain, an outstanding young man who made himself very popular around the club.
“We will follow his progress closely in Tasmania this winter and fingers crossed he’ll get some State recognition.”
Willoughby, with two sixes and nine fours, played a prominent role in consecutive 90-run plus partnerships with Luke Webb (42) and then Adam Davies (43) as Bournemouth took a firm grip on the game.
Northants all-rounder Gareth Berg bowled a miserly six overs for nine runs, but the rest of the Lymington attack were hit for seven or more an over, Lewis Freak (35 not out) and Simon Woodruff (26) scoring freely.

Rob Pack fired 46* off 17 balls
Cue carnage at 239-5 when Rob Pack arrived at the crease.  The Red Arrows were revving up on the tarmac at the adjoining international airport when Pack launched his own aerial display, 46 runs off 17 deliveries, three of them sixes out of the ground.
Lymington put up little resistance and were bowled out for 139, Berg (47) and Ryan Scott (37) top scoring after a three-wicket blast by Tom Robinson (3-16) cut through their top order.
Dan Conway finished with 4-26 and Bournemouth in seventh place.
