Hampshire's Brad Taylor was one of the few England Under-19 players to emerge with any credit from a 98-run pre-ICC Under-19 World Cup defeat by hosts Bangladesh in Chittagong.
Taylor, who will captain the England side in the upcoming tournament, returned a tidy 2-26 in ten overs and then top scored with the bat.
Hampshire team-mate Mason Crane saw his eight overs of leg spin smacked for 55 as Bangladesh posted 246-8 off 50 overs.
England lost their first three wickets without a run on the board but, through Taylor's gallant 41, which included two sixes and two fours, finished 148 all out. Crane made 12.
England's open their World Cup challenge against Fiji on Wednesday.
