The championship comes first – but Havant pair Ben Walker and Stu Ransley had a little ‘personal’ matter to resolve at today's final British Gas Southern Premier League match at Lymington.
It concerned the Premier Division batting prize – in which both players have a considerable interest.
Walker steps on to Lymington Sports Ground with 569 runs under his belt – 34 more than Ransley.
“It’s a fascinating little sideshow, but it won’t detract form the main prize on offer,” smiled Walker.
“We want to retain our title, but the fact Stu and myself have both notched over 500 runs says a lot.”
“Whoever wins will get a warm handshake from the other.”
Lymington’s Matt Metcalfe has every reason to damage Havant’s batting line up – he wants more than 35 wickets to head off a challenge from South Wilts’ seamer Luke Evans.
