Max Goddard has stepped down as Waterlooville captain on the eve of the Southern Premier League Division 2 match with St Cross Symondians II at the Green Jackets Ground.
Ville’s Director of Cricket Andy Reynolds explained: “Max (left) has been dealing with a side strain and recurring knee injury, plus work commitments.   He will still look to play but will be nursing his injury rehabilitation accordingly.”
All-rounder Jon Hudson takes over the captain’s armband for the promoted Ville, whose season has been disrupted by the wet weather, with unfit grounds claiming two of their five scheduled matches.
Waterlooville: Hudson, Scutt, Smith, Reynolds, Shephard, Jackson, Green, Goddard, Verma, Regan, Silva.
Basingstoke & North Hants seconds lost their unbeaten record to Rowledge last week, but look to retain top spot against winless Totton & Eling at May’s Bounty. Their lead has been trimmed to two points over Sparsholt and three ahead of third placed St Cross Symondians II.
Sparsholt go to unpredictable Paultons, who pulled off a remarkable one-wicket win at Trojans last week thanks to Cameron Grierson’s unbeaten 100.
Sparsholt: Frith, Haworth, O’Brien, Banks, Mitchard, Doubell, Taylor, Doran, Weir, Whiting, Proctor.
Langley Manor, with only one win so far, welcome back skipper Jack Budd and medium-pacer Nick Wheeler for the visit of Rowledge to Knellers Lane.
Chris Yates makes his first appearance of the season for Rowledge, replacing Steve Plater, who is back for Sunday’s Village Cup county final at Frensham.  Sam Moseley comes in for 15-year old Will Ryman.
Langley Manor: Budd, Brown, Browne, Wheeler, Noble, Spencer, Ponting, Morgan, Mooney, Knight, Harris, Hamid.
Rowledge: B Wish, J Wish, Wilson, Morant, R Yates, Lloyd, Moseley, Randall, Baker, Forbes, S Martin.
