Hampshire all-round prospect Tom Scriven produced a best yet return of 6-55 as his adopted Queensland club Broadbeach Robina bowled Gold Coast League rivals Burleigh out for 236 on the first of their two-day match.
The former England Under-19 player sent down 21 overs, having five of his six victims caught, one by skipper Felix Organ, who is 5* overnight, with BBR 44-2.
Joe Weatherley went for 11 as Ringwood were dismissed for 184 by St Kilda, while Hampshire team-mate Lewis McManus hit 37 of Camberwell Magpies’ 293 against Footscray, also in the Victoria Premirship.
But the ‘local’ performance of the round in Melbourne came from St Cross Symondians’ all-rounder Jack Bransgrove, who followed up his 4-64 with a crucial innings of 59 as Brighton beat Oakleigh (254-9) by four wickets.
Brighton were 115-4 when Bransgrove (pictured below by Roy Honeybone) arrived at the crease, but the Hampshire chairman’s son hit three maximums and three fours in a key half-century which went on to win the game for the seaside club.
