Tom Friend will have more than an ECB Southern Premier League championship winners medal to remember the season for – if he makes a decent score in today’s final match of the season against South Wilts at the BCG.
With South African Hilio de Abreu ineligible – overseas cricketers have long been excluded from receiving annual awards- Friend currently tops the batting charts with 585 runs, 25 more than Tom Morton, who will monitor affairs closely from behind the stumps this afternoon.   Morton knows he will have to make at least 26 !
Lymington’s Matt Metcalfe (45 wickets) has three more victims than Bashley (Rydal) left-armer Bradley Currie.
Sparsholt all-rounder Jeremy Frith is in line for a Division 1 batting and bowling double, while Dave Orchard is set to finish well clear in the Division 2 bowling stakes.
Title winning Bashley (Rydal) all-rounder Sam Stroud has nipped in front in the Division 3 bowling lists.
