Local cricket will be saying its farewells to Lt Cdr Tony Izzard RN at the Portchester Crematorium on Thursday 6 December at 1.45pm and afterwards at the Royal Navy rugby club, Burnaby Road, Portsmouth,
Tony Izzard, one of the all-time 'greats' of United Services, Royal Navy and Combined Services cricket, passed away last weekend after a short illness.
A leading all-rounder, who also played soccer for Portsmouth RN and the Royal Navy, Tony was a legend at Burnaby Road, where (alongside his wife Sue) he ran the catering for many years after retiring from the game. Like his brother Mike, he went on to become a hugely respected cricket umpire.
