Portsmouth's scheduled Southern Premier League Division 1 match against Totton & Eling at Southern Gardens was called off after the vehicle carrying four of the city club's cricketers was involved in a multiple 'shunt' and then struck by a lorry on the westbound M27, approaching the M271 slip road.
Rajeev Verma, 31, and Ishi Admad, 25, were taken to hospital with neck and back injuries, but were allowed home after treatment.
Car driver James Christian, 20, and front seat passenger Hampshire Under-15 seam bowler Joe Kooner-Evans were unhurt, as was the lorry driver.
Other vehicle drivers and passengers are believed to received treatment but none is believed to be seriously injured.
The match was called off after consultation with Premier League officials.
