Cameron Grierson guided Paultons to a dramatic one-wicket win over Trojans with a superb undefeated century – the former Lymington opener hitting the winning runs after he and last man Andrew Denney had added a precious 22 runs to secure the victory.
Grierson brought up his second SPL century – he hit 112 for Lymington against the Hampshire Academy in May 2013 – with a boundary to take his score to exactly 100 and Paultons past Trojans’ 178-8.
He hit three sixes and nine fours, piloting the visitors home after Paultons had slipped to 102-7 (Syed Mahmood 3-42).
Peter Lamb and Paul Wilde provided invaluable support, but Paultons were still 22 runs light when Denney joined Grierson.
But, keeping cool heads, they chiselled off the runs with almost five overs to spare.
Earlier, Dan Babidge (39) and Mahmood (33) top scored for Trojans, who fell away from 116-2 to 178-8, Denney taking 3-34 with his left-arm spin.
Waterlooville's match with Langley Manor was called off as Rowlands Avenue had been saturated by the midweek rain.
