Fletcha Middleton struck a match winning 64 not out as Fair Oak stunned NatWest Under-16 Championship leaders Hook & Newnham Hurricanes at the Ageas Bowl.
He piloted the young Oaks home single-handed, scoring the last 36 runs of the innings after his side had slipped to 96-4 against the previously unbeaten North Hampshire side, who posted 130-5.
Leg-spin all-rounder Charlie Neville hit an unbeaten 50 for Hook to create a most unusual occurrence in indoor cricket where opposing players hit half-centuries.
Fair Oak, fielding the youngest team in the county-wide youth competition, also beat the New Forest by two runs, little Ben Smith carrying his bat for an unbeaten 30.
The Forest were also beaten by Hook – Tom Reynolds top scoring in both matches, with 38 and 34 not out.
