Joe Vaughan carried his bat for an unbeaten 117 as Old Tauntonians & Romsey piled up 260-5 before dismissing Southern Premier Division 2 strugglers Sparsholt for 152 at the Romsey Sports Centre.
The 108-run win lifted OTs into the second promotion position behind Waterlooville, the unbeaten leaders, but significantly 13 points ahead of Portsmouth & Southsea, who came a cropper against St Cross Symondians seconds.
It was Vaughan's second - and highest - SPL century, ahead of the 110 not out he made against St Cross last season.
Hitting 11 boundaries, he dominated the start of the OTs innings, scoring 42 in a 65-run opening stand with Charlie King before allowing Harry Tulk (41) a greater chunk of the third-wicket action.
He brought up his century shortly after sharing a pre-tea stand of 64 with Elliott Pointing (24) as OTs powered towards a match winning 260-5.
Sparsholt, third from bottom of the table, lost in-form skipper Tom Berins leg before to Hakim Peruzi and then saw Matt Bampton (2-28) and Vickram Dawson (3-25) slice through their top and middle-order.
Only Usman (50) kept the Sparsholt innings afloat before Rob Newman (3-22) completed the formalities. OTs host Langley Manor at the Romsey Sports Centre on Saturday, 1230.
