Former Flamingo captain Stuart Shapland (left) led the way with a half-century as Hampshire Seniors dug themselves out of early trouble to beat their Isle of Wight counterparts by four wickets and win their second ECB 50-plus County Championship group match at Newclose.
Responding to the IWCB's 164-5 (Kerry Rice 71), the Seniors dropped to 39-3 before Shapland (56) and Keith Harsham (35) repaired the damage. A handy 23 from Pete Hayward got Hampshire home.
Hampshire 70s collapsed from 129-2 to 184 all out against Sussex in the National Seventies Championships at Twyford after Peter Green (65) and Ian Watson (44) had laid a solid foundation. The elders kept missing straight balls, three being bowled and six trapped leg before, Bexhill's Alan May weighing in with 6-41.
The outcome was in the balance with Sussex 78-4, but an unbroken century partnership between Martin Burgess (65) and (retired) six-time British Open Rackets champion Willie Boone (40) swept the visitors to victory.
