
Ventnor lie rock bottom of Southern Premier League Division 1 after suffering a sixth successive defeat to New Milton, who clawed their way from the basement with a second consecutive win.
George Watts (4-29) and Ryan Beck (20) did the damage as Ventnor, given a decent platform by Mark Fletcher (25) and Ben Herridge (25), collapsed from 64-1, losing four wickets for as many runs at one stage, three of them with their score at 89.
A Rob Snell (20) led tail wag lifted spirits from 93-8 to an improved 132 all out.
Ventnor hit back to have New Milton wobbling at 14-3 - Chris Russell (4-52) striking twice – before Lee Beck’s 59 (his second consecutive SPL1 fifty) steadied the ship and got the Green & Golds home.
