Hampshire Seniors have reaffirmed their position as leaders of the respective ECB 50-plus and Seevent Over-60s County Championship groups.
Wins over Devon 50s and Sussex at Over-60s level have established Hampshire as group favourites.
The narrow two-wicket win over Devon at Sarisbury almost went to the wire, with Hampshire indebted to late order pair Pete Robson (27 not out) and Neil Sutherland (22) for getting them across the line.
Chasing down Devon’s 196 (Chris Cooke 56), Hampshire made an encouraging start through Dave Streather (35) and Chris Wheeler (36), but whilst the runs continued to flow, the wickets tumbled.
The outcome was in the balance at 154-7 (Cooke 3-23), but Hampshire batted in depth and won with two wickets to spare.
Keith Harsham (3-42), Nick Gargaro (3-38) and Max Smith (2-41) took the bowling credits.
The 50s six-wicket win over Sussex at Hursley Park was a far more comfortable affair, with an opening stand of 84 between Mike Swain (72) and Terry Morton (36) taking Hampshire to almost halfway chasing 177.
Jon Floyd (24) completed the formalities, with Jim Smallbone (4-32) and Paul Kerley (3-30) prominent with the ball for Hampshire.
