Sparsholt must make home advantage count when they entertain Eversley in the Davidstow Village Championship county final at the Norman Edwards Ground, Locks Lane, on Sunday, 1.30pm.
Andy Worth’s side ripped Follands out for a meagre 35 in the last round – but tomorrow’s Thames Valley League opposition is unlikely to roll over in similar fashion.
Sparsholt are flying an important local flag as, if they don’t win, it will be the first time in decades a club from either the Southern Premier or Hampshire Leagues hasn’t participated in the national rounds as county champions.
Sparsholt: Worth, Gough, J Vokes, T Vokes, Sankey, Dilley, Haworth, Dunford, N Doubell, Tognarelli, Foster.
Parley must overcome a run-laden Goatacre side with a score to settle if they are to progress into the national rounds of the Davidstow Village Championship on Sunday.
The pair contest the Dorset/Wiltshire county final for the second consecutive season – Parley having the twice Lord’s winners last year.
Goatacre are in prime form too, having run up an incredible 354-5 in the last round at Shrewton, where their batsmen struck 13 sixes and 20 fours !
But Parley skipper Sam Collins is confident his side will come to the party on Goatacre’s tiny ground.
“We’ve got a good young side and they’ll be wary of us after what happened last season,” he said.
Parley: Sam Collins, Shrubsole, Price, Nippard, Green, Embalagama, Morris, Clutterbuck, Mark Collins, Blackley, Hicks.
Rowledge are favourites to progress and host Blackheath (Guildford) in the Surrey final at School Lane.
