Sparsholt’s cricketers have been given an early opportunity to avenge last season’s defeat by Liphook & Ripsley in last season’s National Village Cup county final.
They lost by 46 runs to the East Hampshire side, but have a chance of revenge as the Southern Premier League pair have been drawn together in the first round of this season’s competition, again at Ripsley Park.
In the other opening round ties on April 29, Langley Manor go to Oakley, with Hursley Park facing a tricky visit to competition debutants Overton. Damerham receive Paultons and Tichborne Park travel to the heart of the New Forest to lock horns with Godshill.
Village Cup first round ties include: Bramshaw v Longparish, Charlton Down (Dorchester) v Shrewton, Damerham v Paultons, Easton & Martyr Worthy v Sway, Godshill v Tichborne Park, Hambledon v Amport, Liphook & Ripsley v Sparsholt, Oakley v Langley Manor, Overton v Hursley Park, Rowledge v Valley End.
