Gloucestershire side Rockhampton, who knocked out Ynystowe in a 'bowl-out' in the pouring South Wales rain and will visit Loperwood Park to play Calmore Sports in the Voneus National Village Cup quarter-finals this Sunday, 1pm.
But, had it not rained, Calmore could have been facing Welsh opponents from the outskirts of Swansea instead as Ynystowe were going nicely at 201-3 and opener Morgan Hodges 99 not out with 16 balls of the innings remaining when the heavens opened.
With the pitch unplayable - and with Calmore glued on U-tube - the tie was decided on an all 11-player 'bowl out' at an unguarded set of stumps. Rockingham, who lost home advantage when the weather intervened on July 4, won 1-0 ... with only ONE player from either side hitting the stumps !
Rockingham, Lord's finalists back in 1984, lie second in the WEPL's Gloucestershire Division, with six wins and three defeats from nine matches. They played Hambledon in the Village Cup ten or so years ago.
