Sparsholt’s reward for skittling Follands for 35 and winning by nine wickets is a home tie with Eversley in the Davidstow Village Cup county final on Sunday week, June 14.
Alex Dilley and Mike Haworth each took 5-17 as Follands suffered an incredible collapse from the comfort of 27-1 - losing their last NINE wickets for just EIGHT runs !
A few big hits from Stuart Tognarelli settled affairs before Sparsholt’s stressed tea ladies had even buttered the sandwiches.
Hursley Park’s fragile batting let them down once again as Thames Valley League club Eversley comfortably defended 165-8.
Chris Wheeler responded with 47 – but his ten team-mates could only muster 42 runs between them as Hursley sank to 89 all out.
Low scoring certainly wasn’t on the menu at Shrewton, high up on Salisbury Plain, where visiting Goatacre ran up an incredible 354-5 in the Dorset/Wiltshire county semi-final.
Sixes and fours flew all around the Recreation Ground as Jon Wilkins (167) and Jack Haines (101) shared a 243-run second wicket stand.
In total, Goatacre – who host Parley in the county final – hit 13 sixes and 20 fours.
The day didn’t get any better for shell shocked Shrewton, who were bowled out for 122 and lost by a colossal 228 runs !
Parley won last year’s contest and booked a trip into Wiltshire with a comfortable seven-wicket win over Great Bedwyn, who dipped from 73-2 (Sam Tuttle 52) to 128 all out against Ollie Green (4-19), Dom Clutterbuck (2-23) and Max Collins (2-23).
After an opening partnership of 78 between Ollie Shrubsole (36) and Sam Collins (27), Parley eased home at 129-3.
Rowledge qualified for the Surrey final without bowling a ball – opponents Lingfield conceding – and will host Guildford-based Blackheath for a place in the national rounds.
