Southern Premier League pair Liphook & Ripsley and Rowledge are through to the last 16 of the Village Cup – but Shrewton are out.
Liphook whipped Thames Valley League leaders Cookham Dean out for 109 before cantering to a seven-wicket win at Ripsley Park.
Rowledge pulled off a remarkable three-run win at Findon, having been on their knees at 63-7 in the afternoon session.
Unsettled by the new-ball pace of Suman Ganguly (4-20), Cookham’s batting fell to pieces, with Ryan Covey’s 3-17 finishing the innings off.
Harry Munt hit an unbeaten 37 as Liphook completed the formalities before drinks.
Rowledge looked down and out on the gentle slopes of the Sussex Downs, but a desperate 63-7 (Jake Wish 31) became a match winning 162 as Steve Martin (42) and Ben Wish (24) doubled the score.
Rowledge fought tooth and nail in the field, desperately defending such a modest total and did so well that, having needed nine runs off the last over, Findon fell three runs adrift at 159-6, with Ben Brisden marooned on 54 not out.
Chris Brewer hit 68 but was unable to spare Wiltshire champions Shrewton from a hefty 90-run defeat by Gloucestershire’s Marshfield.
He helped ease the Shrews to a promising 75-1 after Marshfield had posted a formidable 265-6 – only for the innings to fall part.
Alister Christle (5-35) prompted three Shrewton wickets to fall in a single over and from 92-5 there was no way back, though Will Sleeman (20) did his bit before the innings ended at 175 all out.
“We were right in the game setting the chase up until we lost 3 wickets in an over which then ended all momentum,” reflected Shrews Jamie Mitchell.
“Scoreboard pressure was a massive bonus they had men out from ball one.”
Earlier, Marshfield powered a staggering 125 runs off the last ten of their 40 overs.
