Tichborne Park find themselves up against Liphook & Riplsey’s two teenage tormentors in Sunday’s Watsons National Village Championship county semi-final in rural Alresford, 1pm.
Left-arm Academy prospect Jack Campbell and the fiery George Neave are set to give Tichborne’s batsmen an uncomfortable afternoon at the crease.
Suman Ganguly is likely to skipper Liphook in the absence of Charles Janczur, who faces several weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Liphook & Ripsley: Rob Nicklin, Suman Ganguly, Giles Cover, Harry Munt, Gabe Broadhurst, Ric Williams, Jack Campbell, Dan Wrenn, Toby Flack, George Neave, Anthony White.
The winners of the Tichborne-Liphook tie will have home advantage in the county final against either Sparsholt or Paultons, who lock horns at the Norman Edwards Ground.
Big hitting Stuart Tognarelli returns from an assignment in Australia to play for the hosts.
Sparsholt: Frith, Haworth, Banks, Foster, Tognarelli, Mitchell, Worth, Doubell, Proctor, Phagami, Stone.
Redlynch & Hale carry the New Forest banner into the Dorset/Wiltshire semi-finals when they host former Lord’s winners Goatacre at Woodfalls Cross.
The incentive to win is to host next month’s county final against either Lacock or Burbage.
David Lloyd captains Rowledge in their Surrey group tie against Sinjungrammarians at Church Road.
Rowledge: Lloyd, Taylor, J Wish, Randall, R Yates, Metcalfe, Keeley, Martin, Baker, Board, B Wish.
* The Windsor-based dairy company Watsons have been unveiled as the headline sponsor of the 2017 National Village Cup, which will be known as the Watsons Village Cup.
