Rob Walters, pictured, hit a superb 120 but Southampton Solent had to overcome a significant batting collapse before they overhauled Exeter University’s 289-9 by two wickets in a BUCS Cricket Championship thriller at Southern Gardens.
Solent were in total charge while Walters, who hit 20 boundaries, and Richard Lock (67) put together a double-century partnership.
But the pair were dismissed in consecutive deliveries to trigger a collapse which saw Solent plunge from 229-1 to 268-7.
They eventually got home in the final over, with Burridge new boy Brighton Muguchi hitting the winning runs.
Lymington all-rounder Lock earlier took 3-30.
It was Solent’s second thrilling victory in the BUCS A Division, their exciting programme continuing with visits to Southern Gardens by Durham on Monday (12.30) and Leeds/Bradford on Tuesday. Admission is free.
