Bournemouth leg-spinner Jeremy Warner has made an early impact in Melbourne’s South East CA by taking five wickets in only his third bowling spell for his adopted Australian club East Sandringham.
He took 5-51 by the end of a lengthy 28-over stint as East Sandringham beat West Bentleigh (191) by eight wickets to halt a stuttering two-match losing start to their defence of the Longmuir Shield, which they won last winter.
Warner has also been in handy form with the bat, scoring 25 in an opening day defeat by Elwood.
Bournemouth saw little of Warner last season, the Swanage-raised leggie spending the opening half of the season with Castle Eden in the ECB North East Premier League, before graduating from Durham University. He took 15 wickets in three separate bowls for Castle Eden, but managed only three SPL games for Bournemouth, taking five wickets, including 3-27 in the win over South Wilts.
South Wilts all-rounder Will Harries was Parkdale’s match winner in the dramatic one-wicket Southern Bayside Championship victory over South Caufield, who looked favourites to defend their 175 when Parkdale dropped to 159-9. Enter Harries to hit an unbeaten 17 and win the game for Parkdale …
