Hampshire prospect Joe Weatherley was left marooned on 98 not out when the Second XI friendly against Lancashire on the Ageas Bowl Academy ground was abandoned. After seeing Lancashire post 287-4, Weatherley made an unbeaten 98 (18 fours) to guide Hampshire's reply to 146-3 by stumps at the end of the second day. "Directly I saw Friday's weather forecast, I knew that hundred wasn't going to happen," he confessed.
Weatherley, who captained England U19s in Australia two winters ago and spent the 2015/16 break in Adelaide, has been in top form recently. He made 86 against Barbados A at the Bridgetown Oval and 83 in the warm-up match against Cardiff MCCU. He will play ECB Southern Premier League cricket for his home club St Cross Symondians this summer.
