With Ben Draper stranded in Venice by flight cancellations, South Wilts’ head coach Tom Morton somewhat reluctantly had to don his pads and wicketkeeping kit for Wiltshire’s opening three-day NCCA Championship match against Shropshire at Corsham – but he didn’t do too badly !
Wiltshire trailed by 30 runs on first innings, but Morton turned the game in his side's favour with a thumping 150 in the second innings, a knock that contained three sixes and 20 fours and powered his team to 406-8. They bowled Shropshire out for 203 to achieve a 173-run victory.
St Cross Symondians pair Felix Organ and Charlie Gwynn shone in Dorset’s drawn match with Herefordshire. Organ hit 61 before a marathon bowling spell was rewarded with a 5-113 return. Gwynn took 3-58. The pair each took two wickets in Herefordshire’s second knock. Bournemouth’s Luke Webb made 35 and 26 and Academy keeper Joe Eckland 30.
