Tom Alsop (82) and Joe Weatherley (83) shared a 166-run opening partnership as Hampshire made 270-5 after a rain delayed start to their three-day friendly with Cardiff University at the Ageas Bowl. They went on to make 369-8 with Lewis McManus continuing his excellent form in Barbados (he hit consecutive fifties in the Caribbean) with 68 and England U19 captain Brad Taylor scoring 36. Cardiff made 258-9 by the close, with leg spinner Mason Crane taking 3-70.
