Old Tauntonians & Romsey’s fingers are crossed that Liphook & Ripsley have a potential Lord’s cup final on their minds when they go to Ripsley Park for a vital Southern Premier League Division One relegation showdown match tomorrow, 12.30.
Liphook play Sussex Premier League Division 2 leaders Mayfield in the Village Cup semi-final on Sunday – the winners of which will go to Lord’s.
Despite some notable victories in the NVC, Liphook have lost four of their last five league games (and tied the other) and have lurched to second from bottom place, eight points below OTs.
The Romsey side are unchanged, with an average age of 22 years, including skipper Jody Brown.
“We’re so young, we may have to contemplate a name change,” laughed Brown. “Not sure ‘Young Tauntonians & Romsey’ fits, though.”
OTs & Romsey: Mitchell-Lee, Vaughan, Dhariwal, Tulk, R Newman, Tognarelli, Brown, Mogg, Folkestone, P Newman, Bampton.
Alex Romer-Lee and Max Souter are called up for Andover’s trip to the basement club Hartley Wintney.
Andover: M Hooper, Hart, Treagus, Duckworth, Ayers, Romer-Lee, Souter, Knight, Graham, Adams, Jansen.
Runaway leaders Bournemouth are unchanged at rekindled Ventnor, while Mark Lavelle, having had his run of 99 consecutive appearances broken last weekend, is back for Calmore Sports’ visit to second placed Sarisbury Athletic.
Sarisbury Athletic: Rawlins, Floyd, Clouting, Nightingale, J Hill, Journeaux, Ireland, Wright, Kitcher, S Hill, Jewell.
Calmore Sports: Lavelle, Johns, Wright, Moss, Perry, Woodhall, Vann, West, Rose, Newton, Blake.
Fraser Hay, pictured, whose arrival from Western Australia prompted a dramatic upturn in Portsmouth’s favour, plays his last match for the city club, who host Hook & Newnham Basics at St Helen’s, Southsea.
