Trojans lost four wickets for a solitary run before an unbroken eighth wicket partnership between experienced campaigners Nigel Le Bas and Mario Mohammed got the unbeaten Southern Premier League Division 2 leaders across the line against plucky Bashley (Rydal) II at Stoneham Lane.
Seemingly cruising to victory at 110-3 (Abdul Manjra 38), Trojans collapsed to 111-7 before MCC duo Le Bas (40) and Mohammed (33) restored order.
Neil Thurgood (56) earlier top scored in Bashley’s 175-7, Manjra taking 3-21.
Matt Hardy toasted his maiden Premier League century as joint second placed Calmore Sports remained 26 points behind Trojans after inflicting Hartley Wintney’s first defeat in five games.
Hardy, pictured, hit three sixes and 12 fours in his 100, which piloted Calmore to 236 all out at Loperwood Park.
Opening partner Tam Goodrich (33) and Australian Ben Moss (39) chipped in before HW were dismissed for 168.
The visitors were 72-1 (Tom Garwood 38) at one stage, but Calmore’s spinners turned the tide, with James Rose taking 3-25 and Mark Lavelle and Ben Perry two wickets each.
Sharing second place with Calmore are Tichborne Park, who comfortably beat lowly Paultons by 84 runs.
New captain Justin Reid (53) and Henry Don (64) made half-centuries but Tichborne lost wickets regularly, with Jack Murrell (3-39) making top order inroads.
But Paultons, only two points clear of the danger zone, had too many batsmen making starts before being dismissed.
Six of the top seven reached double figures, but only Nathan Feltham (29) made it past 25.
James Long (4-31) and leg spinner Ed Berry (3-22) did the damage as Paltons fell to 132 all out.
Hambledon have sneaked up under the radar into fourth spot, with South African spin all-rounder Mbulelo Nkomo hitting 69 in a comfortable eight-wicket win at relegation troubled Fawley.
The oilmen were on the slippery slope from the start and it was largely due to the efforts of Ash Rhode (46) and Elliott Earl (43) that they rallied from 6-3 and were able to post 169-9.
Hambledon polished off the target with Nkomo and Spencer le Clerq (45) sharing a century stand.
