PREMIER 1: CLOCK IS TICKING ON TOTTON'S FUTURE

Time is running out for Totton & Eling to save their Southern Premier League, Division 1 status.
They must win at least two of their remaining five games if they are to climb above fellow strugglers Liphook & Ripsley - who are effectively 28 points ahead of them – into a third-from-bottom safety spot.
Totton fell apart against Basingstoke’s new-ball pair Martyn James (3-19) and Mitch Stokes (2-18) at Southern Gardens.
Ollie Perrin (27) tried to glue things together and it needed a plucky seventh-wicket partnership between Kumodak Sharma (22) and Ethan Taylor (20) to lift Totton from 64-6 before Matthew Thankachan (2-24) and Ryan Connor (2-8) ended the innings at 125 all out.
Zimbabwean Mark Mbofana dismissed Dan Belcher, but a Basingstoke win was always inevitable, with Richard Vinn (37 not out) and Stokes (27) adding 43 before Will Phillips [pictured above by the Basingstoke Gazette] hit a six and six boundaries in an unbeaten 46 to finish things.
Old Tauntonians & Romsey plunged from 49-1 to 110 against rampant Hook & Newnham Basics at the KGV.
They made a sound enough start, but were unsettled by the twin spin of Aniket Divecha (3-31) and left-armer Kevin Poulter, who took 2-0 off his seven overs.
Iain Woodhall (40) battled on, but Kieran Thomson (3-10) cut through the lower-order to end the visitors’ innings at 110.
Ben Thane went cheaply, but Harry Came (42) and Thomson (32) added 62 for the second wicket to effectively seal Hook’s win.
