Langley Manor regained the Southern Premier League Division 3 leadership with a crushing ten-wicket win over newly promoted Ryde, who are looking set for an immediate return to Hampshire League cricket.
Runners-up in County Division 1 last summer, Ryde have managed only one win (over Gosport Borough) and a tie with Havant II since their promotion.
Back from a teaching stint in Yorkshire, Cameron Mitchell (23) was the only batsman to make any mark as they were rushed out for a dismal 77 by the Manor, whose skipper Craig Renders took 6-17.
Dave Castle and Connor Browne each made 36 not out as Langley Manor knocked off the runs inside 16 overs.
Ryde face a crucial relegation showdown with Hursley Park at Harding Shute on Saturday, 1pm.
Havant II edged eight points clear of the drop zone with an unexpected five-wicket win over neighbours Waterlooville, for whom James Scutt hit 124.
But Ville saw their 229-4 overtaken as Simon Loat (57), Andrew Galliers (54), and Ollie Jones (52) all made half-centuries for Havant.
Lymington’s opening pair Oli Kelly (57) and Drew Robinson (50) made fifties which enabled the New Forest strugglers to pull off an equally important 14-run win over Gosport Borough.
Lee Harrop (58) and New Zealander Mike Ruffell (38) responded, but Gosport’s out-of-form batsmen failed to reach the target as Canford’s Ben Howard-Allen took 3-37 for the victors.
