WOOD RETURN ... POMPEY STUMBLE ... TROJANS WOBBLE

6/8/2015

Hampshire’s Chris Wood should be back to boost Old Tauntonians & Romsey’s Southern Electric Premier Division 2 title push at Tichborne Park.
OT’s travel to Alresford with a seven-point lead over faltering Portsmouth, who visit a Hursley Park side facing a desperate relegation battle.
The top two are in an almost unassailable position – Fawley lag 56 points behind in third place and are unchanged at Bashley (Rydal) II – and will be virtually assured promotion if they win.
Hursley Park rekindled their survival prospects with a win over Paultons – Zimbabwean Bothwell Chapungu hitting a rapid-fire century, his second of the season.
That win inched them two points above Sparsholt, who celebrated an eight-wicket win over Tichborne – only to find themselves back in the bottom two !
Tommy Viljeon has returned to Sparsholt from Exeter and hopes to have his first knock at Paultons, whose poor run has left them too close to the drop zone for comfort.
Sparsholt: Worth , Ruffell, Tognarelli, Viljoen, Jenner, Dilley, Vokes, N Doubell, M Doubell, Pickering, Ballands.
It’s crunch time for miss-firing Trojans in the Southern Electric Premier Division 3 promotion race.
They have to win their next two matches against South Wilts at Stoneham and Waterlooville in two weeks time if they are to finish in the top two.
Trojans dropped to third after losing to Basingstoke last week and trail South Wilts II by four points in an increasingly congested scene at the top.
Faltering leaders Waterlooville host St Cross Symondians II, who have relegation concerns, while another win for Lymington – at Basingstoke – would end their relegation fears.
Lymington: Kelly; Atkins; Edwards; C Moors, Robinson; Parker; K Moors, Jennings; Layman; Freeman; Gregory.
Basement boys Alton II host Gosport Borough at the Jubilee, while Totton & Eling seconds take on Havant at Southern Gardens.
