SOUTH EAST STRIKERS BOAST ONLY UNBEATEN TAG

South East Hants Strikers are the only undefeated side as the NatWest Under-16 Indoor League at the Ageas Bowl goes into its two-week winter break. They have won all five games, including a key victory over defending champions Compton & Chandler's Ford, and lie 17 points behind the title holders. Hook & Newnham Basics Hurricanes are third on 64 points.
Hook leg spinner Charlie Neville (10) is currently the lead wicket-taker, with Fair Oak's en Smith one behind. Hook captain Matt Taylor's 205 runs make him the highest scorer, with Tom South (140) and Gosport Borough's Jacob Harris each on 148.  Statistics are on www.rosebowlindoorleague.co.uk

CHAMPIONS COMPTON TOP BUT LOSE UNBEATEN RECORD

Defending champions Compton & Chandler’s Ford, pictured, top the NatWest Under-16 Indoor Cricket League table at Christmas – even though they lost their unbeaten record to the South East Hants Strikers.
They lost by 11 runs to the District side, despite a half-century by last man standing Joe Vaughan, who had the misfortune to be run out by his non-striking partner in the last over, when Compton were eyeing an Ageas Bowl victory.
Chasing Strikers’ 130-5, CCF lost two wickets in Harlan Randell’s opening over and later dropped to 45-3 before Vaughan and Alex Lovell (29) recovered the situation.
Portsmouth & Southsea all-rounder Randell (3-23) returned to remove Lovell, but Vaughan fought on and needed to score 12 runs off the last six balls of the match to get Compton home.
But then Lovell was run out – and relieved South East Hants celebrated a narrow win.
SHE are now the only unbeaten side, having rallied themselves after a simararly uncertain start against Compton.
Gosport Borough spin all-rounder Jack Richards, who shone in both his side’s victories, made an unbeaten 32 and shared a key stand with Randell (21) as Strikers dragged themselves out of the mire.
A weakened Hook & Newnham Hurricanes lost both their matches, despite the efforts of little left-hander Harry Robson, who batted well in both their defeats.
Compton trimmed Hook (113) by four wickets in their other match.

PENULTIMATE BALL DRAMA AS FAIR OAK FORCE TIE

Little Ben Smith snatched a wicket off the penultimate ball to enable Fair Oak to tie their NatWest Under-16 Indoor Cricket League match with South East Hants Sixers at the Ageas Bowl.
SE Hants only needed four runs to win off the final over and just one for victory with two balls left.
But Smith, who finished with 3-16, had Sixers captain Tim Seve caught to tie the match.
Fair Oak lost their other match to an Ollie Breckon inspired Bournemouth, who won both their games.
Brechan hit an unbeaten 38 in the Lions two-wicket win over Fair Oak and retired with 27 as Bournemouth chased down a SE Hants Sixers total of 148-4 to win a high scoring affair by five wickets.
Results -
Fair Oak 106-3 (Abbas 28*, Smith 15*) Bournemouth 107-4 (Brechan 38*, Abbas 2-15).
Bournemouth won by two wickets.
South East Hants Sixers 148-4 (Zaman 35*, Pratt 35*, Woolf 20) Bournemouth 150-1 (Brechan 27*, Fisher 26*, V Pack 23, Kitson 22). Bournemouth won by five wickets.
Fair Oak 119-5 (White 29*, Reed 24, Pratt 3-28) South East Hants Sixers 119 (Pratt 29, Woolf 23, Wilkins 17, Smith 3-16). Match tied.

WIN DOUBLE LIFTS PARLEY OFF BOTTOM SPOT

Parley lifted themselves off the NatWest Under-16 Indoor Cricket League basement with a win double against Basingstoke & North Hants and Totton & Eling Tigers at the Ageas Bowl.
They beat Totton by 61 runs and Basingstoke by five wickets to score their first wins of the season. Basingstoke, in contrast, lost both their matches.

Totton & Eling Tigers 72-4 (Mansbridge 31*)
Parley won by 61 runs.
