The stumps were drawn in the Ageas Bowl Indoor School for the last time in April 2017, marking the end of the Nat-West sponsored Under-16 indoor championships which began in 2001/2.
It has been most gratifying to the organisers that Mason Crane and Liam Dawson, who played in the league, have gone on to represent England at International level, with a whole host of others selected for England junior age group sides and later rewarded with contracts to play county championship cricket. Countless others have gone on to become lead players in Southern Premier League cricket.
However, declining standards - not to mention often inhospitable spectating conditions and the lack of ant refreshment facilities - has led to the organisers calling 'time' on what has previously been a hugely successful winter indoor six-a-side competition.
