The Isle of Wight suffered a triple defeat by Herefordshire’s National Counties side, losing a 50-over affair by seven wickets at Newclose and back-to-back T20 losses in the subsequent T20 matches at Ryde.
The IWCB slumped to 18-3 by the midway point of the 12th over at Newclose, but consolidation and recovery was led by Freshwater’s Tom Turney (above) who scored 62 and Newport’s Henry Edwards (41), with some useful late order contributions from Ali Wheble (28) and Lymington guest teenager Cameron Robertson (16). The Island rallied to post 186-8 a total Herefordshire polished off inside 36 overs.
The Island gave a good account of themselves in the opening T20 match on Sunday, scoring 163-4 before taking five Hereford wickets. The second match was one sided, the IWCB replying with 115-7 after the Herefordshire openers had put on 163 without being parted.
