The tall left-hand opening batsman got closer to a magical century as the summer wore on. After making 61 against Old Basing, he hit 74 at Chawton, 83 v Longparish, and then just missed out on a ton with 98 off the Basingstoke & North Hants IVs attack.
But the Oxford Brookes university student (schooled locally at King Edward VI) wasn't to be denied and hit an unbeaten 105 in August against Rowledge. He also chipped in with 23 wickets, including a 6-25 return against Hursley Park II.
To keep things in the family, Gregor's sibling brother Monty hit 448 runs, in addition to spinning out 20 victims.
