Former Hampshire cricketer Shaun Udal will not be able to start the 2019 season with Ropley until early June, having been hit with a four-match playing ban, together with another two games suspended, by the Hampshire League’s disciplinary panel. It means he will miss the opening month of Ropley’s County Division 1 season and cannot play until June 8 at the earliest. Udal, 49, captained Ropley this summer having switched his allegiance from Old Basing, who by coincidence earned promotion from County 2 this past season. Mottisfont all-rounder Richard Blake will also sit out the start of the new season, having picked up a two-match ban. Seven cricketers were suspended by the Hampshire League in 2018, an identical number to the Southern Premier League. |
